Ottawa Senators will not have Russian forward Alexei Kovalev available for the NHL play offs. He tore the ACL (anterior cruciate ligament) in his left knee in Thursday's game against Tampa Bay and will require a surgery. Ottawa general manager Bryan Murray announce that the 37-year old forward will need the 4 month off-season to recover for the next season.

Pittsburgh Penguins Forward Alexei Ponikarovsky will miss the last two games of the regular season against Atlanta and New York Islanders. The 30-year old Ukrainian was suspended by the NHL for his hit to the boards on Josh Bailey in Thursday's game against the Islanders. Ponikarovsky will also pay a $22,000 fine.
Minnesota Wild will be the host of the 2011 NHL draft which will take place on June 24 and 25 at the Xcel Energy Center. The official confirmation is expected today at a press conference in St. Paul. This will be the second time that the draft will be held in Minnesota. In 1989 Quebec Nordiques picked Swedish forward Mats Sundin first overall.
